1.緊急護理中心 Urgent Care Centre (UCC）👉鄰近醫院急症室，可即時到場應診，適合輕度受傷、普通受感染、輕微哮喘、普通過敏反應患者
2.致電111👉由普通科醫生、護士等職系人員接聽電話，適合輕微且沒有生命危險的患者，例如發燒、疼痛、肚痾肚痛，或未知徵狀是否須到急症室求診
3.致電999👉涉及生命危險，如中風、心臟疾病引致的胸痛、嚴重創傷、失去意識等，會即時送入急症室
陳醫生提到，英國醫療體制以「家庭醫生主導」(GP-led)，有別於香港的「醫院主導」(Hospital-led)，因此GP會發揮基本把關工作，管理病人的基本護理，面對複雜的症狀才會轉介到醫院。以他的專科為例，若病人患上類風濕關節炎、紅斑狼瘡等長期病，GP都會轉介到醫院進一步跟進。雖然現時全國有約40萬名醫生註冊執業，但不是全部都投入服務，有些醫生可能已屆退休、仍在學或其他因素，因此醫院病人輪候時間頗長，仍在所難免。
Our Future Health 由公私營以及慈善機構共同推動的一項大型健康研究項目，協助研究人員有關人類疾病的新知識，目前全國超過260萬人口參與當中。只要年滿十八歲、居住英國人士便可參加，填寫問卷並完成抽血後，便會獲得價值£10的超市換領劵以作答謝。

1. Urgent Care Centre (UCC) 👉 Located near the A&E department and provides immediate care. Ideal for minor injuries, common infections, mild asthma, and common allergic reactions.
2. Dial 111 👉 GPs, duty nurses and other medical experts will take your call. Suitable for minor, non-urgent health concerns such as fever, pain, vomiting/diarrhoea or deciding whether to go to A&E.
3. Dial 999 👉 Target for life-threatening cases such as stroke, chest pain suggestive of heart attack, major trauma, or unconsciousness, admitting to A&E in a second.
Chan Tak-hin, a consultant rheumatologist at Barts Health NHS Trust, explained that the UK healthcare system is ”GP-led,“ as opposed to Hong Kong’s ”hospital-led“ approach. Therefore, GPs act as gatekeepers, managing primary care and referring secondary care cases to hospitals. Even though over 0.4 million doctors under the GMC registration, many of those are not completely engaged in practice due to retirement, academic progress and other circumstances, resulting in significant waiting times, and non-emergency cases typically requiring a year or more.
